“‘I love you’ means that I accept you for the person that you are, and that I do not wish to change you into someone else. It means that I will love you and stand by you even through the worst of times. It means loving you even when you’re in a bad mood, or too tired to do the things I want to do. It means loving you when you’re down, not just when you’re fun to be with. ‘I love you’ means that I know your deepest secrets and do not judge you for them, asking in return that you do not judge me for mine. It means that I care enough to fight for what we have and that I love you enough not to let go. It means thinking of you, dreaming of you, wanting and needing you constantly, and hoping you feel the same way for me.”—Jonathan Safran Foer (via psych-quotes)
I may be a liberal, but I think marijuana is disgusting. A lot of the people I’ve met who smoke it regularly are some of the most annoying people I’ve met. All those idiots saying “the crime rate would go down if we legalized it” NO IT WOULDN’T. If we legalized it more people would be using it and…
Do you have any idea the effect marijuana has on the brain? I thought not. Mary-jane is a depressant which means it makes you lazy and hungry - these are it’s symptoms. It also makes you extremely happy, reduces pain, depression, anxiety, improves appetite, can inspire creativity depending on if it’s a sativa or an indica. It also shrinks the hypocampus; in simple terms, it makes it hard to remember things in the short term - while one is high. This does not carry over into the state of being sober. It also causes increase in paranoia and longer stints of sleeping and can cause symptoms of Schizophrenia to emerge earlier. It DOES NOT CAUSE SCHIZOPHRENIA, it will simply cause the symptoms of a person who has schizophrenia to emerge earlier than they normally do - since people who have the disorder and it’s dormant don’t start showing symptoms until around 21. Unless they have it in childhood and it carries over throughout their life.
Did you know more people are arrested for smoking or buying or selling weed than ANY OR CRIME. Why? Because it’s easy to find them, most of them aren’t violent people either. Most people who get involved in heavier drugs and crime in general are people that, should Weed be legalized would be able to go to a safe location and pick it up to smoke. Instead they have to track down drug dealers who seldom only sell weed. Most of them sell coke, lean, sherm (formaldehyde), guns, acid, ecstasy etc on the side. Which means at some point or another they are going to be offered to buy one of these other things. Why? Because drug dealers want money. They don’t give two shits about the person.
I’ve never heard of anyone being high and… stealing a car or jumping off of a bridge. Perhaps you should do a bit of research before ranting stupidity on the internet. There are no “out of control” symptoms to marijuana. You are no more likely to do something stupid than you would smoking a cigarette… you’re more likely to say silly things or giggle and laugh at small things - but not jump off a bridge or steal a car unless that is you as a person deciding to do that. People like to blame things on marijuana when it was their own ignorance - nothing caused by weed - that led to the action itself.
Now let’s take alcohol; alcohol used to be illegal and it was sold underground and was controlled by crime leaders (since they were breaking the law by selling it they were crime leaders and “drug dealers” of a sort). Alcohol can cause belligerence, anger, assault, depression, you can get alcohol poisoning and die, drink so much your heart stops because it slowed down too much, become addicted on a physical level as well as a psychological level, damages the kidneys, arteries, heart, stomach and liver and can cause frequent urination. It’s also a bitch to wean someone off of alcohol. This is legal; and it can easily kill you.
More marijuana smokers go to prison for smoking a plant than violent crime offenders. Our prisons are over crowded with people serving sentences for minor crimes; they go in get involved with the gangs because that is the only way to survive, get faced with assault and abuse from guards, fellow inmates, get exposed to REAL criminals and come out fucked up and on the verge of doing something stupid. Such as assaulting someone, being addicted to harder drugs or stealing a car. Why? Because they’ve been desensitized, where before they were content to get high and sit in a car or at a park and giggle with their buddies and go eat a big meal of greasy food; they are now apt to be involved with gangs, know drug dealers and probably have a knee-jerk reaction to violence spawned from being assaulted or nearly killed every day for however long they were in there.
No legalizing marijuana wouldn’t magically fix our crime rates; but it would definitely reduce the number of CHILDREN and TEENAGERS being exposed to violent people and violent circumstances and being desensitized to bad shit because they have to approach and go through these bad people to buy a plant which is less harmful than Tobacco and Alcohol which both KILL people and can cause serious addiction, withdrawal, physical and psychological dependence - which Marijuana doesn’t. The most it can be addictive is psychologically.
So maybe, before you keep displaying ignorance, you should do a bit of research. Which obviously you haven’t and don’t know what you’re talking about - which kinda makes you seem a little silly compared to these “pot heads” you want so badly to condescend to.
I can find you sources and charts and graphs if you want evidence, but seeing as how immature and thoughtless your original post was… you probably won’t make it through two-thirds of common sense without exploding.
And before you accuse me of just being another ignorant pot-head - I don’t smoke weed. I have in the past, I’ve also done worse drugs. I’ve got first hand experience on the effects they have on people and can tell you 100% that you don’t know wtf you’re talking about.
Have a nice day.
I’d just like to add for the person who caused this rant that while the people you know who smoke the stuff are annoying, it has very little to do with them smoking it—they’re just annoying. The drug may make them worse, but unless they’re on other stuff too, they’d be annoying while not on weed as well.
“The reality is that fat people are often supported in hating their bodies, in starving themselves, in engaging in unsafe exercise, and in seeking out weight loss by any means necessary. A thin person who does these things is considered mentally ill. A fat person who does these things is redeemed by them. This is why our culture has no concept of a fat person who also has an eating disorder. If you’re fat, it’s not an eating disorder — it’s a lifestyle change.”—
I just want to nail this to every stable surface I can find. I cannot count the amount of times that I’ve seen fat folks being encouraged, cajoled, and even forced into behaviors that would be recognized as disordered eating/exercising patterns in thin folks.
Pretty much everything that’s done on shows like The Biggest Loser would be called out as pro-ana/pro-orthorexia in a thin person. Exercising past the point that it hurts, to the point where you’re throwing up, even injuring yourself? Berating yourself because you didn’t lose ENOUGH weight this week? Constantly talking about how fat is weakness and thinness will make everything better, about how you can’t stand to be your current weight anymore? Emphasis on weight as a sign of how much control, strength, and worth you have? Viewing food as bad, as a temptation to sin? Constant sharing and talking about tips on how to minimize food intake, how to lose weight?
That sounds exactly like every pro-ana/pro-mia blog I’ve ever seen. It’s also what fat people are told we need to be doing to ourselves until we’re thin.
While being a chubby person myself, I have to agree that our culture’s obsession with being so skinny even the people in Africa are concerned for you, being too fat is plenty dangerous in and of itself.
However, rather than telling these people to become thin, you should be encouraging them to become healthy. You can be ‘overweight’ and still healthy, ‘cause being a stick sure as hell is just as dangerous as being too overweight. I could stand to lose a few pounds, but—I feel—I am not in danger by my weight, so while I would love to tone up and maybe lose a few pounds, my primary objective is to simply not become unhealthy. I am not meant to be skinny, and I have no desire to be. So long as I feel more attractive than unattractive, isn’t that what’s important?
I am getting forced out of my house soon because of being gay and transgender.
Mum: “You either need to stop acting like a boy and be a girl, or get out. You are ruining your little sister’s life with your choices. A six-year-old cannot go around and say, ‘I have a two brothers, one used to be a girl.’ That’s not right and God and I are disappointed in you.”
I don’t know what to really do. I just turned eighteen, and I don’t have a job yet since I am trying to finish up schooling.
If anyone has a room open or something in the Las Vegas area, please help.
I will try my damn hardest, even if it means I cannot go to college, to get a job and help pay bills if it is necessary.
But I cannot live here anymore because of my family.
Not in the area and all my followers are probably like fifteen year olds, but i can still reblog and hope it gets to someone who can help you.
Good luck, be strong.
I’d totally help if I could, but I live in Canada and don’t own a sniper rifle to take out that cunt who has the audacity to call herself a Mother.
